Domaine Sorin Cotes de Provence Rose 2017

16.99

Provence, France

Tasting Notes: Pale pink in color (a touch lighter than previous vintages), the 2017 nose gives crisp red currant, cranberry, and watermelon rind aromas that make the mouth water before the wine even touches the palate. Voluminous red summer fruit flavors are snapped to attention by the commanding acidity with rose petals playing the undertone. The wine finishes after a mineral encore that bows out gracefully. Made with 40% Grenache, 15% Cinsault, 10% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre, 10% Carignan, 5% Rolle, and 5% Ugni Blanc.

About the winery: Domaine Sorin is a 32-acre vineyard that has been managed by Luc Sorin since 1994. Called “one of the most exciting winegrowers South of France has to offer” by Robert Parker, Sorin focuses on organic practices such as working without chemicals and using organic compost to allow the terroir to fully express itself.

About the Terroir: Domain Sorin Vineyard is located a mere 3 km from the Balearic sea in Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer. While technically a Côtes de Provence, the vineyard shares a border and much of the same climatic conditions of Bandol, arguably Provence’s finest region. Unlike Bandol’s average $30 pricepoints, however, the Domaine Sorin Terra Amata Rose is half the cost!

Serving Suggestions: Drink well-chilled with great company! Makes an ideal summer sipper or matches well to mediterranean cuisine. For a palate-cleansing foil, try it with seafood mac n’ cheese. Best when consumed young but will hold its integrity for several years.
